MyTask — Privacy Policy

MyTask is a single-person mobile app for organising your tasks, shopping lists and notes. This policy explains where your data is kept and who can see it. It is written in plain language rather than legal language on purpose.

In short:

An account is not required. You sign in with Google only if you choose to start the 7-day Pro trial.
Everything you enter is stored only on your phone.
MyTask has no server and does not send your data to the developer or anyone else.
The free version may show Google AdMob ads, which use the advertising ID (section 7). No analytics or crash-reporting tools are used.
Your tasks, lists and notes are never passed to ads.

1. Developer

The app is published by the person or organisation shown as the developer on its Google Play page. The contact address is at the bottom of this page. MyTask is the simple, single-person sister app of the same developer's team app, TeamTask; the two apps do not exchange any data.

2. Data stored on your phone

The following is kept only in the app's private storage on your phone. The developer has no access to it.

What we do not collect or use: name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, SMS, usage statistics, crash logs. What you write is not sent to the developer or to ad companies and is not sold. The limited data used to show ads is described in section 7.

3. Notifications (reminders)

When you add a reminder to a task, the notification is scheduled by Android's own alarm system inside your phone. No internet connection or notification server is involved, and the task never leaves your device.

The notification shows the task title. If you do not want it on the lock screen, you can turn that off in Android's notification settings.

4. Backup files

When you tap back up in Settings, the app packs all of your data into a single file (JSON) and opens your phone's share sheet. You choose where the file goes: your phone's storage, Google Drive, email, a messaging app and so on.

A backup file is only created when you tap the button; the app never sends backups by itself.
The file is not encrypted: anyone who opens it can read the tasks, lists and notes inside. Keep it somewhere you trust.
The privacy rules of whichever service you send the file to (for example Google Drive) apply to it. The developer cannot access the file.
When restoring, the app only reads the file you pick.

5. Sharing a list

When you share a list, it is handed to your phone's share sheet as plain text and goes to the app you pick (for example WhatsApp). This only happens when you tap share; MyTask does not send the text anywhere else.

6. Android's own backup

If Android's Google account backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include the app's data in your Google account backup and bring it back when you reinstall the app. That backup is between you and Google, is governed by Google's terms, and cannot be seen by the developer. You can manage it under Settings → Google → Backup on your phone.

7. Third parties

Ads (Google AdMob)

In the free version MyTask shows a banner ad at the bottom of the screen. Ads are served by Google AdMob. When an ad is shown, Google may process your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information and approximate location (from the IP) to show ads, prevent fraud and measure performance. This is covered by Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). The content of your tasks, lists and notes is not passed to ads.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent first; you can change your choice in Settings → Ad privacy choices.
You can reset your advertising ID or turn off personalised ads in Android settings.
After the Remove ads purchase, no ads are shown.

Purchase (Google Play)

The one-time "remove ads" payment is processed by Google Play. Your payment details never reach the developer; the app only asks Google Play whether the purchase exists.

Google sign-in and the 7-day trial (optional)

You do not need an account to use MyTask. If you want to try MyTask Pro free for 7 days you sign in with Google. If you skip this step none of the following happens.

On the phone: your Google account e-mail is kept only to show "Signed in: …" in Settings, together with the trial end date.
On the trial server (Cloudflare Workers): Google's signed ID token is verified and discarded. The only thing stored is a salted, irreversible hash of the account id and the trial start date. Your e-mail address, name and task/list/note content are not stored on the server.
Purpose: to stop the trial being started twice with the same account and to show the remaining time on another phone.
Deletion: Settings → Account → Delete my account removes your Google link from the phone. The anonymous "this account used its trial" marker on the server is kept on purpose, to prevent deleting the account to get another trial (fraud prevention); it does not reveal who you are. Other

MyTask contains no analytics, crash-reporting or social media libraries. Google Play, where you download the app, may process data as part of its own service (downloads, updates, diagnostics you have allowed Google to collect); that is covered by Google's privacy policy.

The privacy policy and terms links in the app open these pages in your browser. The pages are hosted on Cloudflare Pages; as with any website, the host may briefly process technical connection logs (such as your IP address). The support email link opens your email app; if you write to us, your email address and message are used only to reply to you.

8. Retention and deletion

Your data stays on your phone until you delete it.
You can delete tasks, lists and notes one by one inside the app.
Delete all data in Settings permanently erases all MyTask data on your phone.
Uninstalling the app also deletes its data from your phone (see section 6 for Android backup).
Backup files you created stay wherever you put them; you delete them yourself.

Because there are no accounts and the developer holds no data, there is no separate "account deletion request": everything that could be deleted is already on your phone.

9. Your rights

Data protection laws (such as the GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK) give you the right to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of your data. In MyTask all of your data is under your control: you can view, change and delete it inside the app, and export a copy as a backup file. Since the developer does not hold data on your behalf, you do not need to contact us to exercise these rights; for any questions, write to the address below.

10. Children

MyTask is a general-purpose organiser and is not designed for children under 13. The app itself collects no personal data; ads are served by Google as described in section 7 and are limited to content suitable for a general audience.

11. Security

Your data sits in the private area Android gives each app, which other apps cannot read. We recommend using a screen lock on your phone. Backup files are unencrypted, so store them somewhere you trust. If your phone is lost or broken and you have no backup, the data cannot be recovered.

12. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top is updated. If the app is ever changed so that it collects data, this policy will be updated before that change and you will also be informed inside the app.
